Ich bin Brian Melican, und ich bin Lost in Deutschland. Mit einem Uni-Abschluss in den Fächern Romanistik und Germanistik munitioniert legte ich im Januar 2008 von der Insel los, um den “Kontinent” zu erobern. Bis zum Rhein hatte ich mich 2008 durchgedrängt. Nun stehe ich schon auf der nördlichen Seite der Elbe.

What with being a journalist, translator, and wannabe-writer all at once, I’m running somewhat short on time nowadays. However, if you have a project that is either ridiculously well paid, or just plain good fun, I’d be happy to hear from you.

I report on the most topics. My strong-points are culture (especially literature, film and TV), international politics and media (with a focus on the U.K., the US, and France), tertiary education, travel, and food.
Translation
With over 4 years experience as a professional translator, I can offer a quick, efficient service delivering translations to a high level of accuracy; I am also a demanding and perceptive proof-reader. Furthermore, if I can’t take on your project personally, I probably know someone who can.
Video/Television/Radio
Since mid-2008 I have been producing “Lost in Deutschland”, a weekly web-video programme about my views of and questions about Germany. The clips are in German and are carried by one of Germany’s major regional news websites. Further web-video projects are due to follow shortly.

Als “Journalist, Übersetzer, und Schriftsteller”, wie ich mich selbst in Xing vor kurzem bezeichnet habe, muss man ja einiges am Start haben. Zur Zeit wird es ja zeitlich eng bei mir. Ich habe allerdings noch Kapazität für gut bezahlte Projekte bzw. Projekte, die einfach Spaß machen.

Seit Mitte 2008 produziere ich eine wöchentlich erscheinende Web-TV-Sendung „Lost in Deutschland“ über meine Meinung und meine Fragen zum Leben in Deutschland. Die Videos sind in deutscher Sprache und werden von einem größen regionale Nachrichtenportale gesendet. In Kürze warden weitere Web-TV-Projekte von mir erscheinen.
